My Future Olympian

There was this t.v commercial that was so popular during the Olympic games. It was being played several times a day and watched it every time it came on. This ad was about little kids doing weird, difficult stunts and actions in their own homes, it shows these small kids were breaking stuff and making a mess anywhere in  the house, the kitchen, bedrooms, living room etc. and mothers don't mind what they do for it leads them to become future professional sports enthusiasts. Such a great advertisement really. It was a bounty paper towel commercial to be exact.

Photos attached below show my little Megan how flexible she is at age 14 months. I thought she looked so cute and took a snap of her doing the action. In my mind, I say she could be my future Olympian haha... I wish!

She Turned 13 months Old

My baby turned 13 months two days ago and she has been walking like a pro. She may stumble and fall but she'd stand right up and walk again. These photos were taken yesterday at the dentist's office and waited at the waiting area of an hour and half on her dada to be done. She had ample time to really exercise her legs and she got the entire waiting room for herself.

I just thought she looked so cute and working so hard walking back and forth several times. I got tired looking at her while doing her exercise, lol.

In Control Of Her Shows

My eldest at four years old is showing some smartness in her. I know I may sound exaggerating because I am her mother but I can pretty much tell she is smart than other kids I know. She is the kind of girl if you tell her things, she would absorb it right away. If you try to teach her something, rest assured she will get it and learn things fast.

I am a busy mom of two so it is not at all times I can attend her needs like turning on her shows so I taught her once or twice from the past how to turn on t.v first of course then how to get to qubo, Netflix, TiVo and the PS3. At first she watched kiddie's shows on the regular channel on qubo and eventually she got tired of that she upgraded to TiVo since there are shows suitable for her that I recorded. Somehow she watched them all too soon so she then moved to Netflix.

I tell you, she could switch from Netflix, TiVo, t.v and PS3 without asking me or her daddy anymore. I was amazed how intellectual this little girl of ours is. In fact, she knows pretty well how to browse on Netflix now when it comes to looking for a kiddie show. At night time, when it is our turn to watch our movie and she is still sitting there watching her show, we would ask her to stop her show because we want our movie or we just get the PS3 controller and stop her show. If she sees how you just exit from Kids Netflix without stopping the program first, she'd correct you as if she is smarter than us! She truly is a high tech girl that we don't need to be telling her these things anymore.

A Four-Year Old's Dream

My big girl who is four years old broke the record of sleeping in her own bedroom for two nights in a row. I told her daddy to replace or repair the lamp in her bedside table so our girl can just turn it on/off easily without getting up her bed if she needs light which he did. The other night Jadyn just volunteered to sleep in her bedroom without me nagging at her. It was great and so good of her to do that but then at 5 in the morning, she moved to our bed acting scared.

When I woke up at 9, she woke up too telling me why he moved to our bed...because she thought she saw chasing red eyed wolves in the hallway, that's why. I asked her, are you sure it wasn't a dream, Jadyn? That is when she agreed with me that it might just a dream! Last night was her second night and she slept there all through the night until the morning.

When she woke up this morning she uttered, Mommy, I slept in my bedroom! Then I applauded her and said what she did was very good and brave. I know what to do now to keep Jadyn to sleep in her room, I would bring my computer in there and wait until she snores then leave the room and go to bed as well.

Rolled Over

Wow cheers to my baby girl for she finally rolled over at 5 months and 2 weeks old. She did it 2 nights ago while at her dada's study room last January 12,2012. Way to go baby girl!! Not long from now she'll be crawling and will be all over the place. I can't wait to see her being so active and should I anticipate for a big mess when she reaches the stage of being an explorer and curious little monkey?

Making Sugar Cookies

I had a great time making sugar cookies for the first time in my life. I thought it was going to be another failed try doing something pertaining to baking. My girl was with me the entire time I did my cookies. She helped me cut the dough into different shapes and bake it. After the cookies are done, we both enjoyed decorating it. Not only I taught her about shapes and colors but also I got to spend time with her in the kitchen, it was indeed a mother and daughter bonding moment together while the husband was looking after the baby.

Here are some photographs of us while in the kitchen. I can tell how much my Jadyn enjoyed the activity!
......... great working hands cutting the cookie dough

Introduction To Solid Food

My little Pearl has reached another milestone today. She had her first solid food especially made by mommy. I gave her my homemade puree carrots with a sprinkle of love in it. Unlike my first born before, I bought her jar food at the grocery store which at that time I did not know was a bad idea. Jar baby foods aren't as healthy as the ones made at home because it is full of preservatives. Cheers to my sikong for liking her first taste to solid food!

Like A Rainbow

This is what my girl loves to do when she's in the kitchen. When I go to the kitchen, she'd follow me there not to bother me but do her thing as well by rearranging her magnetic letters sticking in the refrigerator. I love how she arranged them this time for they look like a rainbow, so colorful and attractive.

I told her to take a quick pose with her letters and this is what she showed me, that fine smile of her and a pretty face makes it all perfect. Huh, love my own! You can't blame me, I am just one proud mommy to a great Filipina-American baby!

Potty Training

I am happy for Jadyn! Three days in a row now she uses the bathroom to do the number 2. I swear we started potty training her since she was two. When we went to the Philippines I really thought she will get off the diaper completely but the scenario there is very different here so I let her wear diaper when she poops. Toilets there aren't clean plus there is no decent seat, how could a baby sit on the toilet if the bowl itself is too big for her bottom so I forgive her for doing it in her diaper.

When we were back here, I started the potty training again seriously yet she insisted in doing it in a tiny corner with diaper on. There were days when she pooped at least 2 or 3 times a day which was very upsetting. Not only I was tired of fixing her stinky bottom but also it was frustrating bec. the girl showed no interest in using the bathroom.

But then, we kept telling her she's a big girl now, a big sister and  a big Princess... that maybe encouraged her to do her thing in the bathroom. We couldn't be happier for when she feels like doing it, she now voluntarily go to the toilet and do it. What a relief. I don't have to deal with stinky poop anymore, wiping and changing diapers to a big girl like her is no fun anymore. Way to go Jadyn! Another milestone you've accomplished. I guess now we can move on to get you to reading so you'll be ready for school in two years!

Because She Got Quiet

One afternoon, I went looking for my big girl for the world suddenly got quiet and I was thinking where she might be. I called her name several times but no one answered me. I checked in her bedroom but the girl wasn't there. I went to the kitchen and this is what I found (look at the photos). She was on the floor sitting down, sucking her milk that she took out of the refrigerator. It was her first time to do such thing and it shocked me so much seeing her like that. She looked really cute that I burst out to laugh upon seeing her with a gallon of milk beside her, poured some into her sippy cup and most of all, she had a nice milk foot spa at the comfort of her own kitchen.

Honestly, at first I was gonna get mad at her for making a mess, spilling the milk on the floor and played with it but then I realized the scene was JUST TOO CUTE to be mad or upset about. So I grabbed my camera and did not miss to capture the sweetest girl that had fun sipping milk at the same time having her foot spa. Ahhhhhhhh what can I say? AWESOME GIRL SHE IS!

She Is A Big Girl

Perhaps Jadyn understands that a new sister is coming to join us in our home. Or maybe she learns  to be more independent these days because she thinks she is a big girl now. And big girls tend to do some things for themselves not needing their mommy or daddy to do it for them. If that is the case, I am happier than ever that my first born is being responsible these days even though she makes  some mess but I don't mind it. If this is what it takes for her to learn and make her actions to perfection then it is perfectly fine with me.

....... first photo shows Jadyn slurping the eggdrop soup at a Chinese restaurant last Friday... She finished it all plus rice I put in her plate... she was probably starving at that time because normally she would just play with her food.
........ after lunch we did some grocery shopping at Target... photos above and below show how she helped us unloading stuff into the counter so the cashier can scan them. She looked like she enjoyed what she was doing that it sends a joyous smile to my heart while watching her....

Playing With Other Kids

I am happy for my little girl for she now knows how to play and interact with other kids. What the doctor had told us that socializing is vital to a baby's life during her age 2-4 served as my wake up call that Jadyn needs to be with kids her age too. After that visit, I urge my husband to drop us off at the mall occasionally so baby and I can both go out. Not only I am benefiting it but the baby as well, especially.

Before, she would just contented of playing by herself as if she has her own world but the more I bring her to the play area, she recovers from being alone to playing, laughing with kids she doesn't know. She will get better in the days to come for I will make it sure that she can get to go out once in a while.

Woke Up Happy

It's strange for Jadyn to wake up happy this morning. She rarely wake up like this and I find it you know, kind of strange. We have been trying to keep her from crying and I guess we are doing a little good on this journey. Once her dada gets up in the morning the first thing he does is prepare Jadyn's chocolate milk and put in bed beside her. Once she is awake, she can just grab and suck the drink. That obviously doesn't give her a chance to cry. And because of that, she gets up happy, smiling and talking a lot.

Good girl as she is but she also has her moments, but not as bad as other kids though. Jadyn is fairly good all the time but there are times if she doesn't get her way, she'll throw a fit, again as I am saying it isn't so bad..

Developing A Bad Habit

For some reason Jadyn is not being herself lately, that is what I notice. When I try to give her food (I mean good food) she will swallow the first couple of spoons of it but then when she feels like she got enough she would continue take some food into her mouth she but wouldn't eat it. Yes, she wouldn't say no if I feed her but what she does is spit it up in the rugs and let the dog eat it instead. Pisses me off really because it is so rude to be wasting food like that.

I never taught her to do that nor her dad.Where did she get the habit from? I hate it when she do that. Sometimes I step on it and mashed it on to the rugs. I have no idea how can I stop this baby from doing that, I know it has to be stopped or else she'll continue to do it until she grow old.
