Jury Duty Scam

Pass this on to your grown children and anyone else you can think of. This is said to have been verified by the FBI (their link is also included below). Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book.

It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take those summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty that a new and ominous kind of fraud has surfaced.

. . . The caller claims to be a JURY DUTY coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the Scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo: your identity was just stolen.

The fraud has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma , Illinois , and Colorado , AZ and more. This (swindle) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they are with the court system.

The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud.

Typhoon Sendong Dramatic Rescue of Survivors

Here's a dramatic actual video during the rescue of flash flood survivors. They were rescued by M/V YANG A, chartered by HOLCIM CEMENT. There were 8 of them (3 adults and 5 children including 2 yrs.old daughter. They were washed away at least 12 km. from the nearest land of ILIGAN. Thank God for sparing their lives. God help them recover from this traumatic experience and accept those lost souls in His kingdom. May He also heals those aching heart of the survivors whose loved ones have died and still missing!

A Time Of Giving And Sharing

I am devastated of what happened to CDO and Iligan City. Of all places in the world,why this had to happen in these two cities where they were badly hit by typhoon Sendong. The pictures and videos shared on Facebook is so heartbreaking! I can't help but felt pity to those who died and lost their loved ones. It's just too painful to see.

Christmas is just around the corner, isn't the real meaning of Christmas is giving and sharing? It's the perfect time to show our compassion to fellow Filipinos! Netflix To Increase Its Price

Oh oh, so it is true as what the husband said last night that Netflix is going to increase their price. Millions of subscribers are not happy to hear about it including us. This would only mean we have to give up our other subscriptions in HULU so it wouldn't be too heavy in our pocket. If we pay two different subscriptions in two different companies at the same time it will be too much for us so it's either to stop HULU or Netflix... but I love Netflix more than HULU so I guess we have to choose the latter.

On Tuesday, the company said it was splitting up its two services, which means that subscribers who want both streaming video and DVD-by-mail access will have to get separate plans that cost at least $16 per month total.

Here's a news footage of a young woman of 21 years old left in the country for Jordan hoping to help her family from poverty only to be killed by her employer. I hate stories like this. I feel for her and her family. I really do hope the Philippine government will do something about this, seek for justice and help the family who lost their loved ones abroad. So so unfortunate of her to end up that way.

Idaho Murder

It saddened me when I hear someone of my race killed by their husbands or criminals in America. This woman was Filipino who was shoot twice at the back of her head by her estranged husband. She left her two kids behind with no mother to call for the rest of their life. So selfish of the father to do that to his kids eh!

I know I've posted this on my FB wall already but I'd like to share it here too for the sake of other people who haven't seen or heard the news.

Rich Cronin of LFO Died

It's so shocking to know that one of my favorite boy band members of LFO before Rich Cronin died of leukemia at age 35. So young, so soon to die! Anyone out there who is familiar of LFO boy band? I used to watch these guys on Mtv before..a lot..as in a lot..every time I come home from school in the afternoon I hurriedly turn on our t.v hoping I could see music videos from these guys.

I idolized them because I thought they were so cool, so good looking and very good singers! Now saying a prayer for you my idol! May you rest in peace and God open up the doors of heaven for you! Goodbye!

Rich Cronin of '90s boy band LFO died on Wednesday at age 35, CNN confirms. He passed away in a Massachusetts hospital, according to bandmate Brad Fischetti. Cronin, who wrote and sang the number one smash "Summer Girls," was diagnosed with leukemia in 2005; despite chemotherapy, the disease returned in 2007 and 2008.

It's scary to know that we could potentially be among those victims of salmonella in eggs if we are not very careful of the eggs we bought. I just checked carefully whether the eggs in our refrigerator is contaminated with salmonella to ensure safety to my family and thankfully they are not on the listed plants I have read on yahoo. I have checked mine, have you?

A massive egg recall by Write County Egg has sickened hundreds of people, and affected 13 retail brands that the egg factory packages. The culprit: Salmonella on egg shells.

The egg brands affected by the recall include: Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Boomsma’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms, and Kemps.

Eggs are packed in 6- 12- or 18-egg cartons with Julian dates ranging from 136 to 225 and plant numbers 1026, 1413, and 1946. More added brands are these below I clipped from other news article.

Few days after the said egg recall list issues, the Hillandale Farms of Iowa, Inc. became the second large egg producer to issue a voluntary recall for this month. Several Egg Recall Brands are now included in the list of egg recalled and these include: Wholesome Farms, Hillandale Farms, Sunny Meadow, Sunny Farms, and West Creek.

Filipina Murderer

I was kind of disappointed when a friend told me she watched about an odd story of a filipina who murdered servicemen not just one but two of 'em. I like stories like these and yet how could I missed watching it? I am glad though that news channels here have online addresses where people can just go and watch the missed episodes of their favorite shows.

I was horrified when Rosalie called me to come read the online news' headline about a bride-to-be Filipina being swept away to sea in the Oregon coast. Poor girl, if she didn't come to America, she would still be alive until now but.. maybe it's her fate to die that way.

My husband was reading his morning news in the other computer,when I went near him to say good morning, this is what caught my attention from his screen. I thought of sharing it here because I thought this is an interesting sad news to read. Why would somebody wait to get this big before they do something to fix their weight? Just unbelievably huge,larger than life they say.

Renee Williams,from Austin,Texas,the bedridden 29-year-old,became the largest person ever to have gastric bypass surgery earlier this year after ballooning to nearly seventy stone – but died 12 days later. Her astonishing size meant that the operating table had to be specially widened for the procedure.

Larger than life: Renee Williams weight balloned from 40 to 70 stone after a car crash

The operation was successful and Renee lost four stone due to her reduced stomach capacity before dying of a sudden heart attack less than two weeks later. Her story is told in a Channel 4 programme next week.

Renee had battled with her weight since childhood and was classified as super-morbidly obese at the age of 12.

She was married by the age of 15 and had her first child, Mirina, at 16 weighing 30 stone.

Renee had grown to a massive 35 stone by the time she had her second daughter Mariah.

In 2003, she was hit by a drunken driver in an accident that left her unable to walk because her leg was crushed.

She became bedridden and began eating even more.

"She wouldn't stop eating until her stomach started to hurt," says 13-year-old Mirina.

Tragic: Renee died days after the surgery

"She would get about eight burgers and eat them all. I kept telling her she was eating her emotions. I think she was sick and tired of being in that bed."

Renee piled on more and more weight and by 2007 she was nearing 70 stone - six times the size of a healthy woman in her age group.

Makers of hit US television series "Desperate Housewives" have apologised for a slur against Filipino medical workers that caused an uproar in the Southeast Asian country.
The apology was sent to Philippine broadcaster ABS-CBN's bureau in the United States and aired in the Philippines on Thursday following protests by the Manila government.

"The producers of 'Desperate Housewives' and ABC Studios offer our sincere apologies for any offense caused by the brief reference in the season premiere," cable news channnel ANC quoted the statement as saying.

"There was no intent to disparage the integrity of any aspect of the medical community in the Philippines," it said.

The episode showed actress Teri Hatcher, who plays Susan Mayer, asking during a medical consultation to check "those diplomas because I want to make sure that they're not from some med school in the Philippines."

The apology was made a day after chief aide to Philippine President Gloria Arroyo said the line of dialogue appeared to be a "racial slur."

Philippine Senators said the apology was not enough, and urged their Foreign Affairs Department to lodge a formal protest with the US government.

"I am mortally offended by the statement because it betrayed the racial prejudice and denigrates the excellent performance of world-class Filipino doctors in the US," said Senator Miriam Santiago, whose sister is a doctor working in Los Angeles.
