Keeping The Moisture In

People in our place were so happy when that much needed rain came the other day. Although it wasn't that much but it was good enough to bring the temperature down a little bit from a hundred degrees to 81 at least. We were glad for a day break of scorching heat for two months. Now the temperature is back up again and guess this is going to last for another two weeks.

I am so ready for Fall. I missed the outdoor, I missed walking around the neighborhood and most of all I missed looking the pretty flowers grow in my front yard. Right now, I feel awful for letting all my plants outside wilting and worse die. The potted plants in our front porch look so bad that I don't want to look at them when I go outside, all the leaves are brown and some of them are dead for they don't have mulch around them. However, the plants in my flower beds kind of survive because my husband put some from Rubberecycle in there just before Summer has started besides they are getting plenty of water when he waters the lawn every other day. Putting mulch around the base of the plants help keep the moisture in, plants don't go dry too fast and why I didn't do that to my potted plants?

Green Thumb Me

I love planting flowers and other ornamental plants. In Texas, I got two big and round planters in our front yard surrounding our two pecan trees. Aside from that, I also got potted roses and other flowering plants in our front porch that make our front yard beautiful to look at from the street. Not to be sound conceited, I received a few nice compliments from other people telling me they love what I did to our yard. So flattering eh!

This is what I promised to myself that once we moved to our own house and have a bigger yard to plant on trees and flowers, I would definitely please myself by growing colorful flowers in our yard. Since we already got two big planters in our front yard, I would love to have at least window boxes planters for our windows to make them look more attractive to people passing by our house.

After that, I want to put up three garden window boxes in the back porch as well. We love staying in our backyard as well so a few plants there would be a good idea. Good thing though window flower boxes and other gardening or planting accessories are available everywhere locally or on online stores.

Some Of The Tulips I Have

This is how my front yard looks like..right now. It has pink blooming tulips that I so love to look at when I go out. I wish I have planted more tulips in the flower beds to have more variety of these. I shall wait though until my husband can pull out all the thick old bushes all the way around the house and replace them with wonderful tulips or knock out roses. I bet it will be beautiful throughout Spring and Summer.

Spring Blooms

My hardwork in planting these tulips paid off since they are now blooming. I planted my tulip bulbs three weeks ago and now they are giving me beautiful colors of flowers. Currently I have three of them in different colors in our front door, I haven't taken a picture of the yellow yet for we just arrived three hours ago from a long 5 hours painstaking drive from San Antonio. Looking forward to seeing more Spring blooms for days to come for I planted several of them in the front yard.

A Major Job Today

I spent an hour working outside trying to finish my plan of replanting my paperwhites and tulips from the pots to the ground so they can have enough room to grow. I did all that by myself but the job itself wasn't an easy task to do.

I had to do some soil digging in the backyard and put it in the wheelbarrow then transport it to the front yard where I was going to plant the bulbs. I think I did 3 rounds of pushing the wheelbarrow before I could finally put the bulbs in. After I finished with my planting I had to do another 4 rounds of watering them manually with the use of a portable sprinkler.

I did try using the hose we have in the backyard but it isn't long enough to get to where my plants are so I left no choice but to do the watering manually. I don't complain though as I enjoyed what I was doing plus I had a really good exercise. Now I am so exhausted, hungry and sleepy. I bet I am gonna be all sore tomorrow, I shall see but that is what is gonna usually happen to me after doing a hard labor.

Now I am off to bed for a quick nap then cook some bam-e later when I wake up.

Beautiful Day Outside

Jadyn is outside playing pushing her baby carriage with the dog. I let her out for it is all sunny and not so cold. Since it is such a beautiful day today I plan of doing some yard work, I plan of transplanting my paper whites to the ground in the second pecan tree in the front yard then also the rest of the tulip bulbs I got. I feel bad about buying so much tulips bulbs and wasn't able to plant them right away, now they are kind of withered and mind you those bulbs aren't cheap. In a pack there are 40 bulbs in it and costs 10 dollars each. I really have to find some place to plant them all pretty soon because new sprouts are started growing inside the package.
