Backyard Project To Be Continued

Our yard is a mess right now. The fencing company we hired to do the fence as well as putting a concrete in the backyard is putting off their job until after New Year. The reason why it's because the building permit that my husband applied was denied by the city. For some reason, in order to replace your old fence you got to apply for a permit for that. Much worse, there is a building restriction in this area so residents are not allowed to put up a car port visible to the street. But my husband isn't just wanting a cheap car port, he wants a workshop, a better building an owner can be proud to have in the backyard yet he is still denied with that.

It would be a dream come true for him if one day he will be able to have a place to park his cars under the roof and be able to work on stuff comfortably. And for me, it would be a dream come true if I can do something so beautiful with our backyard garden. Put an arbor maybe? These things are commonly seen at the park, public garden etc where people can take photographs in garden arbors or wooden arbors.

I know it may look ridiculous having an arbor in the backyard but aren't arbors look great wherever they are placed? We shall see if the husband would approve of my idea having an arbor in the backyard and make it a mini flower garden out there.

Gives Beauty To The Window

I am a woman who loves flowers and plants. In fact, I have my own backyard garden, two big round plant beds in our front yard and a few potted plants. I admired how beautiful the plants and flowers are when in bloom that is why I had to make my own plant beds where I can grow different flowering plants in Spring.

Since we are getting into Winter season, my poor plants died and all turned brown and really dead except for the knockout roses! I love them, they are not affected by freezing temperature instead they still give me pretty blooms. Next year I will try to put more plants in my beds to close the gap of each stems of my plants and make it more beautiful.

Another thing I want to do is put window box planters on the East part of the house where it looks so boring there since my husband doesn't want anything planted on the ground on that side there. Now that I found a way on how to give our windows looking great from the street, might as well start looking around for window flower boxes or window plant boxes and see if I can find the right size, color and style I want online.

Keeping The Moisture In

People in our place were so happy when that much needed rain came the other day. Although it wasn't that much but it was good enough to bring the temperature down a little bit from a hundred degrees to 81 at least. We were glad for a day break of scorching heat for two months. Now the temperature is back up again and guess this is going to last for another two weeks.

I am so ready for Fall. I missed the outdoor, I missed walking around the neighborhood and most of all I missed looking the pretty flowers grow in my front yard. Right now, I feel awful for letting all my plants outside wilting and worse die. The potted plants in our front porch look so bad that I don't want to look at them when I go outside, all the leaves are brown and some of them are dead for they don't have mulch around them. However, the plants in my flower beds kind of survive because my husband put some from Rubberecycle in there just before Summer has started besides they are getting plenty of water when he waters the lawn every other day. Putting mulch around the base of the plants help keep the moisture in, plants don't go dry too fast and why I didn't do that to my potted plants?

Most Loved Topic

One of the many topics me and my friends love to talk about is gardening. I know three ladies who share the same interest as me, gardening that is. In fact, if one start talking about gardening, we can go on and on forever talking the same topic at one time and we find it hard to stop exchanging words or ideas on gardening. Yes, that is how crazy we are. We tackled about putting up trellises or garden trellis to be specific so the vines we planted could grow as high as they can without interfering their growth or disturbing other plants. As for the ornamental plants, it is good to use a vinyl trellis for it adds beauty to the garden and in the front yard. There are many trellises styles and colors or sizes to choose from at the website I am looking at right now. I am thankful I found this site for I know where to go now in case I need a vinyl trellis in the future.

Decorative Rain Chains

One and a half weeks from now will be Spring. When that season arrives, we would expect plenty of rain and tornadoes throughout the whole season. What choice do we Texans have? We should be thankful because we do have short Winter here that means less cold months to suffer. Spring is my second favorite season of the year for it is when flowers bloom, trees grow leaves and everything will be colorful.

Speaking of Spring, we are so ready for that. Our garden is set up and guess what? We do have extra barrels spare to catch some rain to use in watering our plants during hot Summer days, this is of course to help us save some money on our water bill, yah know? All we have to do is install faucet on each of the barrel and probably install a rain gutter chain into the barrels, not only it is useful but also it serves as a decorative sort of chain in the backyard or if my significant other prefers to use other rain chains style or the simple type then it is fine. We can also use some garden rain chains to save ourselves some trouble walking into the garden to water the plants.

Green Thumb Me

I love planting flowers and other ornamental plants. In Texas, I got two big and round planters in our front yard surrounding our two pecan trees. Aside from that, I also got potted roses and other flowering plants in our front porch that make our front yard beautiful to look at from the street. Not to be sound conceited, I received a few nice compliments from other people telling me they love what I did to our yard. So flattering eh!

This is what I promised to myself that once we moved to our own house and have a bigger yard to plant on trees and flowers, I would definitely please myself by growing colorful flowers in our yard. Since we already got two big planters in our front yard, I would love to have at least window boxes planters for our windows to make them look more attractive to people passing by our house.
After that, I want to put up three garden window boxes in the back porch as well. We love staying in our backyard as well so a few plants there would be a good idea. Good thing though window flower boxes and other gardening or planting accessories are available everywhere locally or on online stores.
