She Turned 13 months Old

My baby turned 13 months two days ago and she has been walking like a pro. She may stumble and fall but she'd stand right up and walk again. These photos were taken yesterday at the dentist's office and waited at the waiting area of an hour and half on her dada to be done. She had ample time to really exercise her legs and she got the entire waiting room for herself.

I just thought she looked so cute and working so hard walking back and forth several times. I got tired looking at her while doing her exercise, lol.

The Guilty Look

I can't wait for my Megan to grow up so she can fight back with big sister. It pains me so much watching her cry because she is being pinched or hit by big sister. The big sister doesn't want the baby sister messing around her stuff especially the computer.

We were all in the living room when we realized baby Megan wasn't with us, she got quiet then the big sister ran to the study and there she found her baby sister tapping, slapping and playing with her laptop. That surely enraged her so she punched the baby in the back, ouch! That is not the first time she hurt the baby. Not only that, she stepped on both hands putting all her weight to the baby's hands because she was climbing up to where the computer was. That sucks! I wish Megan could fight back but she can't yet. Too young for that.

Every night before we go to sleep I talk to my daughter about being gentle with her baby sister, love her and just share her toys, she'd promise and will say never will she hurt 'B Megan again but then the next morning/day there she is again. Hmppppp...

I am hoping that all these because she is too young to comprehend the things going on and around her. Next year she'll be 5 years old and I am truly praying she will change the way she treat her sister. By then, baby Megan will be able to play with her and not be putting toys in her mouth that will perhaps make the big sister happy...

..photo above is of Megan looking guilty got caught by big sister screwing up her computer... she probably knew what is gonna happen next...
..... second photo above really loving the typepad...

.... oh oh somebody just got punched in the back...

Traditional Way Of Teaching A Child To Walk

Photo above is of my baby M wrap with a newborn cloth. This is how we teach our children back in the Philippines how to walk. It is a traditional way yet I am applying it here because it encourages the baby to think that walking is fun, a great exercise for her legs at the same time a great way to bond mommy and baby. We both loving doing it occasionally but she gets heavier the longer we do this. It takes a lot of my strength especially in my arms holding her like this for a long time.

I used to do this to three of my younger siblings too. That sure was fun and I can never forget the memories I shared with my little siblings when they were just babies.

In Control Of Her Shows

My eldest at four years old is showing some smartness in her. I know I may sound exaggerating because I am her mother but I can pretty much tell she is smart than other kids I know. She is the kind of girl if you tell her things, she would absorb it right away. If you try to teach her something, rest assured she will get it and learn things fast.

I am a busy mom of two so it is not at all times I can attend her needs like turning on her shows so I taught her once or twice from the past how to turn on t.v first of course then how to get to qubo, Netflix, TiVo and the PS3. At first she watched kiddie's shows on the regular channel on qubo and eventually she got tired of that she upgraded to TiVo since there are shows suitable for her that I recorded. Somehow she watched them all too soon so she then moved to Netflix.

I tell you, she could switch from Netflix, TiVo, t.v and PS3 without asking me or her daddy anymore. I was amazed how intellectual this little girl of ours is. In fact, she knows pretty well how to browse on Netflix now when it comes to looking for a kiddie show. At night time, when it is our turn to watch our movie and she is still sitting there watching her show, we would ask her to stop her show because we want our movie or we just get the PS3 controller and stop her show. If she sees how you just exit from Kids Netflix without stopping the program first, she'd correct you as if she is smarter than us! She truly is a high tech girl that we don't need to be telling her these things anymore.

Never Enough

Gosh I feel so sleepy still. I got up several times last night attending my newborn. This baby of mine is so weird, she keeps making noises that I don't remember Jadyn was making when she was her age. Sometimes I got up for nothing, I thought Megan was awake but when I go to her crib she was just actually sleeping or stretching at the same time making noise only she knew how to do it.

I wonder when can I get a full eight hours of sleep? Could it be weeks or months away, I have no idea. All I know is that no nap or sleep could be enough for me. So don't blame me if I keep complaining of being drowsy or sleepless for I work 24/7. My mood during the day depends how much sleep I get from the previous night. If I feel like I don't get at least four hours of sleep rest assured I'll be being unfriendly to people around me.

She's Growing Big So Fast

Baby girl number two now weighs 8 pounds and ten ounces. She grows fast and so big.. I should not wonder, she has good appetite drinking milk whether it be formula or breast milk.

I chose to use both formula and breast milk so it would be easier for me to wean her when the right time comes. Besides, my milk won't last long in her tummy. An hour is the longest she can sleep...after that she'd wake up and wanting to be fed again. Whereas  with formula, she can go for 2 or 3 hours of sleep not being bothered by hunger.

She's A Good Shopper

At first I was hesitant going out for grocery shopping with our newborn in tow because what if she'll be crying in the store? It would be embarrassing for us for we didn't experience having a cry baby while doing the shopping or while out in public with our first baby. Jadyn have always been an easy baby since she was born so taking her out even at a crowded and noisy restaurant wasn't a problem at all.

Now that the second Princess is here, I was thinking if she'd behave the same as her big sister. I've only had her for over two weeks and have been out for only a few times, about two times doing grocery shopping and so far she is quiet and would just sleep the whole time we are doing our errands until we are done. I hope that she won't change and she'll continue to behave until she is old enough to appreciate that going out is fun. If that is the case, I would never leave her at home because the fear of her throwing a fit or crying out loud in public is not something I should be worried about.

Better

I could compare my night last night was better compared to the previous night. I had a few hours of sleep because the baby was sleeping good. Unlike the previous night, it was such a struggle. I spent the whole evening awake, baby wasn't sleeping soundly. She'd wake up from time to time and when she does that I couldn't afford to go to sleep too. She was constantly making sounds, cooing, pooping and all arggsss.

There were nights when I felt like giving up. Other nights especially the first few nights from giving birth, it was enjoyable and I liked it. But as days went by, I no longer appreciate not being able to sleep. Makes me cranky and moody during the day. Poor is the big girl for I screamed or yelled at her every little thing she does for I find it annoying. Things will get better I know once the newborn learn to sleep all through the night...but I don't know when is that gonna happen.

Afternoon Naps

Alright, granted Jadyn has her own bigger bed now but the problem is, she wouldn't sleep there by herself at night time. I have to lay down with her until she falls asleep before I could leave her otherwise she'll be sleeping with us again in our bed. I don't know how long is it for her to get used to sleeping alone, all I know is that I am pretty determined of training her how to love her bed and her bedroom in the evening.

Taking afternoon naps in there would be no problem with her. She will just go sleep in her purple bed without me forcing or telling her, she just do it in her own freewill which I love but I wish she would do it   too during night time. Sometimes I spend my whole evening sleeping beside her for I get too lazy to get up and move to our bed.

My Weakness

What melts my heart is when my big girl wants something and say "PLEASE" with matching pity-look in her face. No matter what it is or even if I am too lazy to get up, I can't help but give what she wants since the word PLEASE and her being polite and courteous is there. I am glad Jadyn learned to say words like "Thank You", "Welcome", "Please" and other words that a child like her age should say to adults as a sign of respect. Not all kids in this country who are trained to be respectful and I don't want my kids to be one of those.

I love to watch Supernanny reality show on t.v because it often picture out families who are on the verge of breaking, kids so rotten spoiled who don't respect their parents. But then in the end Jo, the supernanny was able to give them rescue and help their family. That is so ouch and sometimes I ask myself if it's really happening in some homes??? Well, I guess it is for it wouldn't be shown on t.v if it's not.

Doesn't Hurt

I love watching Super Nanny on t.v. It is one of my most favorite shows I should say. It pertains to disciplining American spoiled brats children, children that are totally out of control. Through this show I learn some very important things on how to take disciplinary action once a child won't listen or don't show any respect to the parents.

One of the disciplines that Nanny Jo would always impart to her clients are taking the kids to time out after several warnings given to them. I so agree with time out as it doesn't hurt the kid if you use it as your tool to let them know that they made mistakes.

I can't believe I did it to my girl. Although my Jadyn isn't a bad girl but sometimes you do what you have to do in order for a child to learn. I put her in time out yesterday because she didn't listen to me and kept insisting that she would go out and play even if she committed the same mistakes twice.

The Only Color She Knows

Sometimes I find it so funny when I ask my baby girl what color are some particular things like her hair, if I ask her what color is your hair? And she would say BROWN, other times I ask her again her hair color then she'll say GRWEEN! And I burst to laugh. It's not that I am laughing at my baby's mistake but because of the thought of the color itself. HUh, I can't imagine my baby having a green hair lolz.

Green is the only color she knows at this age. Although I have been trying to teach different primary colors but she is so stubborn to learn it. She is smart I know, only she is kind of resisting to learn colors too soon.

Knocking On The Door

Our baby girl continues to surprise us with talent and traits that she had never shown before. There are just too many interesting things in her that please us. For instance, whenever we are in the bathroom and the door is closed. She would want to come inside but before she do that, she will knock on the door first as if she knows what she is doing.

At her early age she is already showing good manner. Knocking on doors before entering is one way to show respect who is inside the bathroom. How many of the kids you know doing that? I guess there are only very few and one of them is my baby. We never taught her that, she only did by herself one day and it really amazed us. In fact, when she did that for the first time, her dada thought it was me knocking on the door but no it was our baby.

Continuation On Teaching Your Kids To Be Responsible

In my previous post of the title above, I posted there the first seven possible light chores your kids can do to help you at the same time teach them how to be responsible, if you missed that post you can just read the Part One here. Then read on below for the continuation.

8. Make the Bed
It can take many years before a child can tackle this chore solo, but little ones will enjoy helping Mom or Dad by straightening his side of the bed. Working together, teach the child to start with the sheet and pull it up high by the pillows.

9. Chore Charts
Every child learns differently. Some like the idea of earning stickers or love the thrill of putting a magnet over listings of accomplished tasks.

10. Make It Fun: Turn on the Tunes
Put on some music and even the dreariest chores are better. Teach your child to waltz her dolls to the toy box. Stalled-out toy trucks can bounce back to the toy box to the beat.

11. Make It Fun: Clean Together
If your toddler has a penchant for cleaning, encourage more of the behavior you like with toys designed for dramatic play.

12. Make It Fun: Set a Timer
Little people have short attention spans. Instead of working until a task is complete, set the kitchen timer on the table and get as much done in two-minute spurts as you can.

13. Make It Fun: Offer Rewards
For each small task your child completes, you can offer a sticker or a token.

Helping Your Kids To Be Responsible

As Jadyn keeps following me like a hen when I do my chores, might as well ask her to help me with some simple things she can do. That way I can teach her how to be responsible in cleaning up after her mess when she is done playing for the day.

These helpful tips sent to me by the online magazine I subscribe to are the best way to train your kids to be better.

1. Pick Up Toys & Books
It's good to get in the habit of cleaning up after playtime.

2. Pick Up Dirty Clothes
Clothing is lightweight and easy to pick up off the floor, and it takes little effort to put it in its rightful place--whether that's in a hamper or down a laundry chute.

3. Help with the Family Pet
Caring for a pet teaches children kindness and respect for living creatures.

4.
wiping up mess
Wipe Up Messes Life is messy. Teach your children it's easy to clean up after themselves using a damp rag to wipe of floors.

5. Dusting with Socks
Let your child slip her hands into your stash of old, mismatched socks.

6. Carrying & Putting Away Groceries Once you have your toddler safely out of his car seat, you can let him help you bring in the groceries and put them away.

7. Help Set the Table Assign everyone a job and dinner will come together with ease. Little ones can carry napkins to the table and place one at each setting.

A Career That Is Fulfilling

Being a mother is wonderful. I can't put into words how thankful I am to have a baby that is well-behaved and so smart. Now my life is complete and I can't ask for more. I am a full time housewife and mother of my family and I will never replace it with any kind of career out there for as many said, being a mother is such a fulfilling career anyone can have. Such a joy seeing your baby growing under your proper tender loving care.

At this point of my life all I could think of is savoring every moment spent with my baby as she will not stay this way for long. When she is old and starts schooling that is when child behavior problems start showing that she might learn outside from our house or with the kids she mingle with in school. I hope if that happens my Jadyn's behavior can be controlled so she will not grow up to be a brat.
